🌟 Perfect Purple Spheres and Satin Sheen
The Tomer Purple variety boasts a distinctly compact, sturdy, and bushy habit, reaching a height of approximately 25 to 30 centimeters. From its base, it forms a neat, deeply lobed, and highly decorative, lush green foliage clump, from which sturdy, succulent, and straight flower stalks emerge. Thanks precisely to the compact and robust growth of the Tomer series, the stems stand out with excellent durability and stably bear the weight of the large, heavy, and double flowers, without toppling even in spring and summer winds and rain.
The culmination of flowering occurs in early to mid-summer, most often from June to August. At the ends of the stalks, incredibly magnificent, densely double, spherical flowers bloom, reaching a diameter of 6 to 8 centimeters. Each flower consists of hundreds of delicate, paper-like and silky petals, arranged in perfect, concentric rings. Their color is breathtaking – a rich, expressive, and regally dark violet or deep purple hue, which shimmers with a soft satin glow in the sunlight and does not fade. The flowers are practically odorless, which is a huge advantage for people with sensitive noses or allergies.
🛡️ Hardy Corms and Reliable Garden Protection
Unlike classic bulb varieties, the underground part of buttercups consists of small, unusual corms that visually resemble tiny nails or spider-like tendrils. These corms are very hardy and store immense energy for abundant and prolonged summer flowering.
Underground, buttercup corms are not appealing to rodents, as they contain specific sap substances, so moles, water voles, and mice usually leave these plantings alone and avoid them. This means that your client can be completely confident in the safety of their exclusive planting. Above ground, the magnificent, open flowers serve as an excellent nectar source, actively attracting bees, bumblebees, and colorful summer butterflies, enlivening the surrounding environment.

🌱 Practical Information on Cultivation
- Planting time: Corms are planted in the garden in spring, ideally in April and early May, after the time of heavy night frosts has passed. Important professional tip: Before planting, it is highly recommended to soak the small corms in lukewarm water for 3 to 4 hours (the corms will absorb moisture, swell, and become twice as large), which will ensure quick, even, and successful germination.
- Location and soil: It will thrive best in full sun or very bright, moderate partial shade, in a location protected from winds. The soil should be rich in humus, fertile, neutral, loose, and light. The most important condition is excellent drainage. The plant does not tolerate standing water, which can cause the corms to rot.
- Planting depth: Corms are planted at a depth of approximately 5 centimeters, always with the "feet" or "nails" pointing downwards. When planting, it is advisable to leave a distance of approximately 10 to 15 centimeters between them. For maximum and visually lush effect, it is recommended to plant them in larger groups of 5, 10, or more corms together, creating magnificent, artistic flower islands.
- Wintering: As Asian buttercups come from warmer regions, they do not overwinter in Latvian garden beds. In autumn, when the foliage has naturally yellowed and died back after flowering, and before severe frost sets in, the corms are carefully dug up, cleaned of soil, lightly dried, and stored in a dry, cool, and dark place (e.g., a cellar or cool pantry) until the next spring.
