⚙️ Planting instructions and recommendations:
- Site and soil selection: Daffodils prefer an open, sunny or partially shaded spot in the garden. The soil should be loose, light, deeply worked, fertile, and consistently moderately moist (loamy or humus-rich soil). Neutral to slightly acidic soil (pH 6.0–7.0) is preferred. Unlike tulips, this variety tolerates slightly heavier and wetter soils, but standing water and complete boggy conditions, which can damage the bulbs, must be avoided.
- Planting depth and spacing: The planting depth of the bulb should be equal to three times the height of the bulb (for a 12/14 size, this is an average of 12–15 cm deep from the base of the bulb to the soil surface). The recommended spacing between bulbs is approximately 10–15 cm. For a visually beautiful and natural effect, it is recommended to plant all 5 bulbs at once in a small, dense cluster or "nest," creating a neat spring accent.
- Spring and post-bloom care: In spring, as soon as the first shoots appear, carefully loosen the soil around them and apply additional fertilization with a complex spring fertilizer (they respond exceptionally well to fertilizers containing potassium and phosphorus). Once the daffodils have finished blooming, it is essential to break off or cut off the old flower heads so that the plant does not expend energy on ripening seeds, but instead directs all its strength to the growth of the bulb underground.
- Leaf retention and division: After blooming, daffodil leaves and stems must not be cut or mown until they naturally yellow and wither (usually by the end of June). If daffodils are planted in a lawn, the first lawn mowing in these areas should only be done when the daffodil leaves have turned completely yellow. Since the variety grows in one place for years, every 4–5 years, the clump can be dug up in mid-summer, divided into new offset bulbs, and replanted in autumn.
