⚙️ Growing instructions and recommendations:
- Sowing and seedling cultivation: Seeds should be sown early in spring – from February to April in seedling trays on moist, leveled, and high-quality peat substrate. The seeds are very fine, so do not cover them with soil, only gently press them into the surface and carefully spray with lukewarm water. Cover the tray with film or glass and germinate at +18 to +20 °C. Seeds germinate in approximately 10–14 days.
- Pricking out and planting: When the young seedlings develop their first true leaves, carefully prick them out into individual pots. Plant young plants outdoors in pots, balcony boxes, or garden beds only after all spring frosts have passed (mid-May).
- Location and soil selection: Sutera prefers sunny or partially shaded, cooler locations. The plant absolutely needs slightly acidic, nutrient-rich, light, and well-drained soil.
- Care and the most important rule: Unlike other balcony flowers, heartleaf sutera completely dislikes soil drying out. Due to lack of moisture, it will immediately drop all its flower buds, so on hot summer days, it must be watered generously and regularly. To maintain explosive flowering, it is recommended to fertilize the plant regularly throughout the summer.
