An exotic spring masterpiece, royal purple flames on a pristine white satin background, and outstanding garden durability!
If you're looking for a spring bulb that will bring impeccable elegance, unique contrast, and artistic charm to your garden or online store assortment, the Triumph group variety Flaming Flag is perfection itself. This high-value hybrid is a favourite of gardeners and florists, as its unique colour combination in the garden looks like an exquisite watercolour painting. It is one of the most reliable bicolour tulips, giving the garden an instant touch of luxury and a festive spring mood.

🌟 The classic cup and play of violet flames
The Flaming Flag variety belongs to the famous Triumph tulip group, which guarantees excellent durability, straight stems, and impeccable flower shape in the world of gardeners and professionals. The plant reaches a stately and elegant height of 40 to 50 centimetres. From the base, it forms sturdy, thick, lush green stems, surrounded by neat, broad leaves with a light silvery-green frost. The stems act as strong natural pillars. They effortlessly carry the weight of the large flowers proudly and perfectly straight, without drooping even in the changeable spring winds and without requiring any support.
The culmination of flowering occurs in mid-spring, most often in late April and May. On each strong stem, a single large, perfectly formed, classic and sculptural tulip-shaped cup blooms, which can reach a height of 8 to 10 centimetres. The colour palette of the flowers is pure poetry: the base tone of the petals is a shimmering creamy white or pure snow-white. This light background is gorgeously adorned, illuminated, and highlighted from the base of the flower upwards and along the middle of the petals by dramatic, soft violet, lavender blue, or lilac flames, stripes, and brushstrokes. In sunlight, the petals shimmer with a soft satin glow, creating a stunning three-dimensional volume. The flowers emit a pleasant, classic, and very gentle spring aroma.

🛡️ The strength and reliability of the Triumph group
Flaming Flag is an incredibly tough, healthy plant, resistant to the capricious spring weather. As this is a high-grade hybrid variety, the petal structure is thick, dense, and firm. They withstand sudden spring night frosts perfectly and retain their immaculate, closed shape even after heavy spring rains. This variety has excellent frost resistance, so the large bulbs safely and without problems overwinter in Latvian soil and do not need to be dug out every year for winter.
The underground bulbs boast excellent vitality. This variety is also excellently suited for forcing early spring flowers in greenhouses during the winter months, ensuring even germination and sturdy, high-quality stems for cut flowers. Above ground, the gorgeous, open flower cups serve as a valuable food source for bees and the first spring butterflies after the long winter dormant period.

🏡 Application in garden design and excellence in floristry
Due to its upright stature and unique bicolour contrast, this variety is universally applicable in garden planning and bouquets:
    • In mixed spring beds: It is a perfect choice for planting in the middle ground of beds, where the white and purple tones create a stunning colour accent next to dark purple or bright red tulips, blue hyacinths, and early spring perennials.
    • In mass plantings and parade beds: You will achieve the best and most visually impressive effect by planting these bulbs in larger groups of ten, twenty or more bulbs together, creating gorgeous, airy spring islands or elegant waves of flowers that are noticeable in the garden from a distance.
    • For growing in flower pots and balcony boxes: Thanks to its sturdy stems and compact form, this variety looks expressive and neat in large containers on terraces, balconies or at the entrance to the house, creating an elegant accent in close proximity.
    • A favourite for floristry and bouquets: Flaming Flag holds a stable place as an excellent cut flower variety. The straight, firm and strong stems make it incredibly convenient for use in spring bouquets. In a vase at home, the flowers remain fresh, firm and impeccable for a long time, opening gradually and elegantly.

    🌱 Practical information for cultivation
    • Planting time: Bulbs are planted in the garden in autumn, ideally from mid-September until early November, before severe frost sets in and the ground freezes. Autumn and winter cold are mandatory conditions for the bulb to successfully bloom in all its glory in spring.
    • Location and soil: It will thrive best in full sun or very bright, moderate partial shade. The more sun the tulips receive, the more magnificent and expressive the play of violet flames will be. The soil should be rich in humus, fertile, neutral, and necessarily loose, light. The most important condition is excellent drainage, as the plant does not tolerate stagnant spring or winter moisture, which can cause the bulbs to rot.
    • Planting depth: Bulbs are planted in the garden at a depth of approximately 10 to 15 centimetres, following the classic rule that the depth should be three times the height of the bulb. When planting, it is advisable to leave a distance of approximately 10 to 15 centimetres between bulbs to allow each flower enough space to develop.
    • Care: After flowering, it is advisable to immediately break off or cut off the flower head itself, so that the plant does not waste energy on ripening seeds, but instead directs all energy back to the bulb. Stems and foliage are cut to the base only when they have naturally yellowed and completely withered. To maintain maximum flower size and strength in the long term, it is recommended to dig up the bulbs every two years in mid-summer, dry them, store them in a dry place, and replant them in autumn.
