A high-quality, mid-late, and extremely high-yielding bush-type dill variety, distinguished among gardeners by its gigantic leaf mass, vigorous growth, and intensely rich aroma. Mammut (translated as "Mammoth") fully lives up to its name, naturally forming impressive, massive, and heavily foliated bushes that yield a record-breaking harvest. This variety has been specifically selected in the Kurzemes Sēklas range for successful cultivation in Latvian climatic conditions. As this is a distinct bush type, the plant naturally begins to flower and form umbels considerably later than regular dill. This guarantees a long, continuous, and generous harvest of tender, fleshy greens throughout the summer. The local producer's 5-gram package offers an excellent quantity of seeds, ensuring high germination and a strong start for new shoots.

🌱 Suitable for:
  • Long-lasting and abundant green harvesting: The ultimate choice for gardeners who want to get the maximum amount of tender, juicy leaves from a single bed before the plant begins to form flower stalks.
  • Freezing and drying for winter supplies: Thanks to the record-high concentration of essential oils in its thick leaves, this variety perfectly retains its natural, strong aroma and bright green color after drying or freezing.
  • Home cooking and daily meals: A perfect, aromatic addition to spring and summer vegetable salads, cold soups, new potato dishes, sauces, cottage cheese, and fish meals.
  • Pickling and brining cucumbers (at the end of the season): When the dill finally begins to flower at the end of summer, its enormous, monumental flower umbels and seeds are unsurpassed for preserving cucumbers and other vegetables in jars.
Key advantages:
  • Remarkably slow bolting (Bush type): Mammut starts to bolt very late, meaning the bush remains low and dense for a long time, producing only tender, edible greens, significantly extending the fresh harvest season.
  • Monumental and exceptionally lush green mass: The plant naturally forms strong, heavily foliated bushes with large, highly branched, and fleshy leaves, providing an impressive total harvest weight per square meter.
  • Rich aroma and decorative color: The dill turns a beautiful, bright green shade with a light, silvery waxy bloom. It contains a very high level of aromatic essential oils, filling the garden and kitchen with a distinctive scent.
  • Excellent natural immunity and resilience: This variety stands out for its good resistance to common dill diseases in the local climate, root rot, and yellowing of leaves, keeping the foliage healthy and juicy even in wetter summer months.
  • High-quality local seeds: Kurzemes Sēklas conducts strict germination and purity control, ensuring high germination rates and robust plants fully adapted to the local climate.

⚙️ Sowing instructions and recommendations:
  • Location and soil requirements: Dill prefers loose, deeply cultivated, fertile and consistently moderately moist soil with a neutral pH. Choose the sunniest spot in the garden for the greens to accumulate the maximum amount of valuable essential oils and aroma.
  • Sowing time and depth: Seeds are sown outdoors from April until mid-August every two to three weeks for a continuous harvest. Sowing is done in prepared furrows approximately 1 to 1.5 centimeters deep, maintaining a distance of 15 to 20 centimeters between rows.
  • Winter sowing (autumn sowing): This variety can also be successfully sown in the garden in late autumn (November/December) before the soil freezes, to achieve the earliest and most abundant harvest of greens the following spring.
  • Watering: Ensure regular and consistent soil moisture, especially during seed germination and on hot, dry summer days. Lack of moisture can encourage the plant to prematurely stop producing leaves and begin to flower.
📦 Storage:
Store seeds in a dry, cool, and dark place in their original, tightly sealed packaging until sowing. Protect from moisture and direct sunlight.
