A top-quality, very early, and exceptionally productive salad cucumber variety (Monika) that has gained immense recognition from gardeners thanks to its unique growing characteristics. This is a parthenocarpic variety (self-pollinating hybrid), meaning that fruits set without bee involvement, making it an ideal and reliable choice for growing not only in open fields but also in film greenhouses, tunnels, and even on balconies or terraces. The fruits are smooth, slender, and cylindrical, with thin, bright green skin and almost imperceptible, fine warts. The seeds are an indispensable helper for every gardener who wants to provide their family with a continuous, early, and exceptionally tasty harvest of cucumbers for direct consumption.

🌱 Suitable for:
  • Fresh consumption and exquisite salads: This variety is created for immediate consumption – its tender, thin skin and juicy flesh are a perfect base for summer salads, cold soups, and appetizers.
  • Greenhouse and covered growing: Since the plant does not require pollination, it shows maximum yield in closed film and glass greenhouses where bees do not enter.
  • Snack gardens on balconies and terraces: Perfectly suited for growing in larger pots or balcony boxes, providing fresh cucumbers in urban environments.
  • For quick pickling (when undeveloped): If the fruits are harvested very small, they are also excellent for immediate pickling, quickly absorbing the marinade and retaining a pleasant aroma.
Key advantages:
  • Parthenocarpic (self-pollinating) system: Guaranteed fruit set and yield in all weather conditions, even if summer is rainy, cold, and bees are not flying.
  • Genetically protected against bitterness: The fruits have a pleasant, distinctly mild and sweet taste. They never turn bitter, even if the plant experiences drought or lack of moisture.
  • Very small seed cavity and thin skin: The inside of the cucumber is dense and juicy, and the seeds are almost imperceptible, making this variety one of children's favorite vegetables.
  • High resistance to diseases: The variety shows excellent natural resistance to downy mildew, allowing the plant to remain green and produce longer than other traditional varieties.
  • Premium class seed material: W.Legutko guarantees maximum high germination and strict quality control, providing confidence in every seed sown.
🧪 Technical data and parameters:

  • Vegetation period: Very early, starts producing approximately 40–45 days after germination.
  • Fruit characteristics: Slender, straight, cylindrical, 10–12 cm long, bright green with smooth skin and minimal warts.
  • Package weight: 1 gram (1g).

⚙️ Instructions for use and proportions:
  • Soil and site selection: Requires fertile, humus-rich, warm, and well-drained soil. In an open field, a sunny and sheltered location should be chosen; in greenhouses, regular ventilation should be provided on hot days.
  • Sowing time and depth: For growing seedlings in pots, sow in April; for direct sowing in open fields or greenhouse soil, sow from mid-May when the soil has warmed up to at least +15°C. Sowing depth: 1.5–2 cm.
  • Sowing pattern (distances): When growing in rows, the distance between rows is 80–100 cm, and between plants in a row – 15–20 cm. If grown vertically on strings in a greenhouse, plants can be planted more densely (approximately 3–4 plants per square meter).
  • Watering and care: As this variety grows very quickly, it requires constant and even moisture. Water with warm (lukewarm) water directly at the root, preferably early in the morning or in the evening.
  • Harvesting: For the tastiest cucumbers that do not overgrow, harvest regularly (every other day). This will stimulate the plant to continuously produce new and juicy fruits.

📦 Storage:
