A high-quality, exceptionally splendid, and unusually richly flowering annual poppy variety that delights gardeners and lovers of vibrant landscaping with its patriotic two-color scheme, large size, and superior quality. Danish Flag is a world-renowned, top-tier historical variety specifically suited for safe and stable cultivation in the middle of flower beds, in cottage gardens, and in cut flower rows, ensuring straight, visually perfect, and strong plants. The plants grow unusually upright and majestic, reaching 75 to 90 cm in height, and boast expressive, wavy, silvery-green leaves with serrated edges and thick stems. The packaging from Poland's leading brand Toraf guarantees excellent, professionally selected seed quality and maximally high germination rates for a successful and generous start to the summer season.
🌱 Suitable for:
  • Vibrant, contrasting, and thematic flower beds: This variety is a perfect choice for gardeners seeking a bright, eye-catching, and geometrically precise color combination that serves as an excellent central accent in the garden.
  • Romantic and "cottage garden" compositions: A classic and traditional element in grandma's style gardens, adding pleasant nostalgia, lightness, and perfectly complementing ornamental grasses and perennial clumps.
  • Floristry and obtaining decorative seed pods: After flowering, the plant forms enormous, structural, and smooth seed pods, which are an excellent and highly sought-after material for florists in dried flower arrangements and autumn or winter wreaths.
  • Greening dry and maximally sunny garden areas: A perfect choice for areas with lighter soil and intense sun, where other more sensitive flowers would not thrive as successfully.
Main advantages:
  • Unique, fiery red coloring with a white cross: Danish Flag boasts large, bowl-shaped flowers (up to 10 cm in diameter) in an intensely bright, fiery red color, with a large, pure white blotch at the base of each petal, forming a perfect cross pattern.
  • Luxuriously fringed and serrated petal edges: Additional charm and exoticism are added to the flowers by their deeply cut and fringed edges, giving the bloom a feathery lightness and refined texture.
  • Majestic height and strong structure: The plant forms distinctly straight, thick, and tough stems, reaching 75 to 90 cm in height, stably resisting wind and rain without the use of additional supports.
  • Incredible undemanding nature and hardiness after germination: The plant possesses strong vital energy, is highly drought-tolerant thanks to its deep root system, and perfectly withstands heat, requiring minimal attention from the gardener.
  • High-value seed germination and generous volume: The Toraf 0.5 g packet contains a considerable quantity of seeds that germinate unusually quickly and reliably, guaranteeing a strong, friendly, and dynamic start for new seedlings in the bed.

⚙️ Cultivation instructions and recommendations:
  • Soil and site selection: Poppies require a completely open, maximally sunny, hot, and bright location. The soil should be light, loose, well-drained, and moderately rich in nutrients. Heavy clay soil and standing water should be categorically avoided, as seeds and seedlings will quickly perish in constant moisture.
  • Sowing times and specifics: Poppies have a fragile and sensitive taproot that practically does not tolerate transplanting, so the best results are achieved by direct sowing in the open ground in a permanent location in early spring (April–May), as soon as the ground is workable, or even in late autumn for winter. Sow seeds shallowly, scattered on a moist top layer of soil, strictly without covering them with earth, as light stimulates germination (they can only be gently pressed or raked in). Germinate readily within 10–14 days.
  • Care after germination: Once the new seedlings have grown slightly, they should be carefully thinned out in the bed, maintaining a distance of approximately 20–30 cm between plants. Overcrowded poppies will become leggy, stems will be thin, and flowering will be sparse.
  • Watering and care: The plant is highly drought-tolerant. Moderate watering is only necessary during the germination phase and during prolonged periods of summer heat. If you wish to obtain larger seed pods for floristry, after the petals fall, leave the stems in the bed to fully mature and dry until the pods turn a grayish-brown hue.
📦 Storage:
Until sowing, store seeds in a dry, cool, and dark place, in their original packaging. Protect from moisture.
