⚙️ Cultivation instructions and recommendations:
- Sowing and site selection: Sunflowers are best sown directly in open ground in spring – from late April to May, when the soil has warmed up slightly. Sow seeds about 2–3 cm deep, lightly press, and water thoroughly. Seeds germinate quickly and evenly, usually in about 7–12 days.
- Distance between plants: Once the young seedlings have grown, it is recommended to thin them out, maintaining a distance of approximately 40x50 cm between plants, so that each plant has enough space and nutrients for the development of large flower heads.
- Soil requirements: Sunflowers absolutely need a maximally sunny, warm, and open location. The plant prefers fertile, humus-rich, deeply worked, and moderately moist neutral soil with good drainage.
- Care and the most important rule: During rapid growth and flowering, sunflowers require a large amount of moisture, so they should be watered generously and regularly on hot summer days. To protect long stems from breaking in strong autumnal winds, it is advisable to tie the plants to stable supports in more exposed areas in good time.
