A high-quality, medium-early, and exceptionally productive shelling pea (sugar snap pea) variety that delights gardeners and fresh vegetable enthusiasts with its outstanding yield, excellent disease resistance, and refined, sweet taste. Pegaz is a reliable variety developed in Poland, highly valued in gardens, and intended for outdoor cultivation. The plant forms a strong, medium-low stem and generously provides visually perfect, full pods with bright green, juicy, and distinctly sweet peas. The generous and economical 50-gram bulk package from PNOS is an excellent choice, guaranteeing the highest seed quality, excellent germination energy, and a rich spring and summer harvest for the whole family.
🫛 Suitable for:
- For the earliest spring treats and children's delight: Peas are distinguished by their pronounced sweetness and delicate skin, making them children's favourite garden treat for immediate picking and eating straight from the garden bed.
- For abundant winter supplies and freezing: Thanks to its high sugar concentration and the large 50g package size, this is an ideal choice for shelling peas and quick freezing for winter, as they perfectly retain their sweet taste and bright green colour.
- For home canning and hearty soups: An excellent choice for those who want to prepare organic pea preserves for winter themselves or use them for making creamy pureed soups and stews.
- For gourmet spring and summer salads: The distinctly juicy, crunchy, and large peas are a perfect ingredient for preparing and decorating fresh vegetable salads, cold soups, and various spring appetisers.
✨ Main advantages:
- Large pods and uniform, sweet peas: Pegaz produces straight, smooth, deep green pods in which large, juicy, and distinctly sweet peas develop symmetrically and closely together, without over-ripening or becoming hard for a long time.
- Compact growth and stability: Plants reach a small to medium height (approx. 60–75 cm). The stem is distinctly sturdy and strong, so the plants are stable, easy to care for, and less prone to lodging compared to tall varieties.
- Excellent genetic immunity to diseases: This variety is characterised by high resistance to common pea diseases and fusarium root rot, which guarantees a clean, healthy, and generous harvest without excessive use of chemical agents.
- Friendly and even ripening of the harvest: The pods on the bush swell relatively simultaneously. This significantly facilitates harvesting and allows all supplies to be conveniently processed or frozen in one go.
- Excellent seed germination and vigour: PNOS seeds undergo strict selection and laboratory control, ensuring strong germination energy and even sprouts even in variable spring conditions.

⚙️ Cultivation instructions and recommendations:
- Soil selection and preparation: Peas prefer an open, sunny, and well-lit spot in the garden. The soil should be loose, light, fertile, rich in humus, and consistently moderately moist (sandy loam or light clay soil). Before sowing, thoroughly dig over the soil, amend it with compost, and level it with a rake. It is advisable to ensure neutral soil acidity (pH 6.0–7.0). Avoid areas where fresh manure has just been incorporated (this will promote leaf growth rather than pods).
- Sowing times and depth: Peas are distinctly cold-hardy, so sowing can begin early in spring – from the beginning of April (in greenhouses or under agro-fabric already at the end of March), as soon as the soil has dried out and reached approximately +4°C to +5°C. Sow seeds about 3–4 cm deep, maintaining a distance of 4–5 cm between seeds and 25–35 cm between rows. Peas germinate within 1–2 weeks.
- Care and watering: Regular and consistent watering must be ensured, especially during flowering and active pod development – fluctuations in moisture or drought can negatively affect the sweetness of the peas and cause premature hardening of the pods. Although Pegaz is a relatively low and stable variety, to ensure perfect air circulation and a clean harvest, it is advisable to provide small branches or low garden supports/nets in the rows for the plants to cling to with their tendrils.
- Harvesting: Harvest regularly when the pods are full, round, and firm, but the peas inside are still tender, juicy, and distinctly sweet. Timely picking of ripe pods stimulates the plant to continue producing new embryos, extending the overall production period.
📦 Storage:
Store seeds in a dry, cool, and dark place in their original, tightly sealed packaging until sowing. Protect from moisture and garden pests (e.g., pea weevils).
